The Problem
Multi-generational Electrical Contractor Needing Efficiency
“Joe” Dickey Electric Inc., has been serving North Lima, Ohio, as a trusted electrical contractor since 1957. They work on residential projects, heavy industrial work and offer a wide variety of services as an electrical contractor. From changing a light bulb in your neighbor’s home to building a substation for the local power plant, Dickey Electric has been a staple in Ohio for three generations.
Dickey Electric is an experienced group with a focus on workplace safety, investing in technology and staying ahead of the pack in an ever-changing industry. They were managing labor on spreadsheets and knew how to use them fairly well, but their data quickly became outdated and difficult to share with everyone who needed to see it. They were getting by but knew there was a more efficient way to set their people up for success.

The Solution
Long-time LaborChart Customer
In 2015, Dickey Electric found LaborChart. The workforce management solution was on the first version of the platform and in the early development days. Dickey Electric immediately saw the potential and recognized there wasn’t another digital solution out there for construction workforce management.
As an early adopter, they not only believed in the platform’s potential, but also appreciated the technological collaboration with the LaborChart team. With a new solution at their fingertips, they could now manage their roster, see where their workforce is at, solve issues in the field and proactively transition people from one job to the next. But they didn’t want to stop there.

The Results
Paving the Way for Construction Workforce Management
With LaborChart, Dickey Electric now takes advantage of an 8-week lookahead and forecasts upcoming work and required labor with graphical data and insights from completed jobs. They store all of their HR information within the platform including worker location, contact information, certifications, skills and more.
Dickey Electric used to have someone 100% dedicated to labor management. Now, that same person focuses on worker safety, field operations and the overall business while LaborChart helps take care of their people. Together, Dickey Electric and LaborChart are collaborating to not only identify new efficiencies for the electrical contractor but also to help improve the workforce management platform for others to enjoy.
