MESSER CONSTRUCTION

Founded in 1932, Messer Construction Co. is an employee-owned, billion-dollar company which operates in the U.S. across ten regions throughout the midwest and southeast. With internal changes to their operating model, Messer needed an easy solution to help manage workforce requests and reports more efficiently. Historically, they relied on a combination of legacy soware and manual processes, but realized this system was not efficient or scalable.

Ideally, Messer was looking for a system to integrate with their current data and to help amplify and surface the information they already had.

Keep reading to learn the challenges Messer faced, how LaborChart helped solve their problems and the results they have seen.

CHALLENGES

Three major challenges needed to be addressed:

  • Outdated software. The software Messer used to manage some of their workforce had become outdated and it wasn’t compatible with their new systems.
  • A new system needed to be easy to deploy and adopt. Messer knew their current process of workforce management was time-consuming and not the ideal way to maintain schedules and availability. Ultimately, they needed a more efficient way to
    track and manage their workforce.
  • Employee buy-in was essential. One of Messer’s most significant challenges was to get employees on board with LaborChart. They had a group of people who used an existing solution that worked—and albeit somewhat inefficient, they were happy with it. Plus, change is always hard. As such, their purchase decisions had to be based on the overall good of the company.
SOLUTIONS

By listening and acting on Messer’s primary needs, LaborChart provided an integrated solution that allowed them to manage staff schedules, certifications, start and end project dates, availability, location, and the ability to send assignment alerts—all in one easy-to-manage platform.

WHO USES LABORCHART
  • CraftManager
  • IT Business Relationship Director

  • Project Solutions Executive
  • Construction Manager
RESULTS

Messer’s employees are their most important resource and most valued asset. With LaborChart, Messer can track schedules, forecast needs, view workforce requests, and view project start and end dates in one place. The ability to have all this information consolidated and integrated with existing data eased Messer’s administrative burden. Their processes have been streamlined and their information is now easily accessible—both digitally and in reports.

Another vital win for Messer was the ability to merge data to get a holistic picture of where their people are rather than a bunch of random snapshots.
